This program is a joint effort between the Vandenberg AFCEA Chapter and the AFCEA Education Foundation to promote effective science teaching and to enhance the abilities of capable science, math, and information technology teachers worldwide. The AFCEA Education Foundation provides $1000 for an elementary, middle or high school teacher to purchase supplies and/or equipment that would augment their science and/or information technology activities in the classroom.

Education Grants for High School Seniors
(nominations currently closed but will open soon)
The Vandenberg Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) awards two grants per year to outstanding high school seniors getting ready to attend college in the Fall pursuing associates or bachelor degrees in the fields of computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, information technology, math, physics, or a related field of study within Information Technology. The grant will be $500 and can be used for any fees required to accomplish the goal of receiving his/her degree. Financial need is one of the criteria evaluated.

Science Teaching Tools Grant
The High School Science Teaching Tools Grant provides $1000 to an outstanding science teacher to purchase science experiment materials.
Congratulations Mr. Greg Eisen
Cabrillo High School
Mr. Eisen is has been awarded the AFCEA Chapter’s Spring 2006 Science Teaching Tools Grant. Mr. Eisen is the Cabrillo High School Science Department Chairperson and the Aquamarine Director for the unique large marine facility on campus. Mr. Eisen spends 15-18 hrs a week of his own time, beyond his normal 40 hr work week, overseeing aquarium marine life. His dedication to science extends beyond the Cabrillo Student Body, as he has opened up the aquarium to local elementary and middle school students, ensuring a better understanding and appreciation of the California coastline and its marine inhabitants.
Educational Grants
2 Santa Maria Righetti High School seniors earned a $500 Educational Grant to help offset their college expenses
Congratulations Mr. Rodolfo Marquez
Mr. Marquez will be heading to the University of Southern California to pursue an Engineering Degree. Academically, Rodolfo has distinguished himself with a 4.55 out of 4.0 GPA, as well as a 1230 SAT score. He is as equally dedicated to community service, serving as a Guadalupe Police Explorer for the last 2 years. Rodolfo comes from a family of 7, and entertains his brain by exploring the insides of a computer.
Congratulations Mr Michael Lac
Mr. Michael Lac will be heading to the University of California, Berkeley, to pursue an Engineering Degree. Michael has a 4.34 out of 4.0 GPA, with a 1240 SAT score. He is a member of the Varsity wrestling team, and President of the Asian Pacific Club. He told us “pursuing engineering will cost me much sleep and lots of grey hairs,
but I’m ready to endure such a feat."
